Shimmering Stars
Now, here’s a band that I’m still very exited about for 2011 (earlier post here). While their sound may be fairly typical of a lot of recent lo-fi bands (early 60s Spector influence, good harmonies, loads of reverb, etc), they rise to the cream of the genre by writing great songs (as is always the case). The first tune here though is a great cover of the Everly Brothers’ classic “Let It Be Me” and it shows the band unapologetically wearing their influences on their sleeves. Heart-felt and (dare I say it?) romantic. Enjoy.
